Anhydrite is a mineral often formed in evaporite deposits. It is similar to gypsum without the presence of water. Its name, is derived from "An" and "hydra" -- meaning "without water". This rare mineral hails from a Madagascan mine whose production is intermitent-- this stone is RARE.
